Bogus Memory Card Test

This memory card review from TrustedReviews is bogus.

I hate when people write reviews, and release obviously biased results. As such, TrustedReviews’ multiple format memory card test and review seems to be biased against Sandisk in favor of Lexar.

First, they choose out of date card readers: Sandisk’s SDDR-88 8-in-1 card reader has been replaced with their SDDR-89 12-in-1 card reader, which performs notably better. The SDDR-89 was released over a year ago… I know, because I happen to own one and it’s been sitting on my desk for almost that long. As for Crucial’s reader, I bet there is a replacement model as well.

Second, they did not review any Sandisk Extreme III or IV cards, instead choosing much older Ultra II cards. Ultra II cards are 66x cards, where Extreme III cards are 133x (and yes, on my machine, with my card reader, they do infact read and write at around 20mb/sec).

However, they allowed Lexar’s Professional 133x in, and it obviously won both the CF and SD reviews; Sandisk’s Extreme III cards both perform similarly and are priced similarly to Lexar’s Pro line, yet were obviously missing from the test.
