The Liberation of Freenode, Part 4
Thursday, May 4th, 2006 at 4:12 pmFinally, Rob Levin is admitting that the PDPC is making more money than what he originally said. During the last year, the PDPC made over $25,000, which he now is filing an IRS Form 990 for. This, of course, is because he is probably afraid of being audited by the IRS, and wants to make everything public before he gets nailed lying about it.
So, now all he needs to do is release a detailed budget on how the money was actually spent over the past year, and another detailing how its going to be spent this year, and then we, the Liberation Front for Freenodian Freedom (LFFF), might be getting somewhere.
It’s time lilo got a real job instead of trying to claim that PDPC is a job. Considering that all freenode servers donate their machines/bandwidth to host an IRC server and all the other staff are unpaid volunteers, I find it shocking that people actually donate to PDPC.
Do people seriously know what they’re donating to? They’re giving money to lilo to sit on IRC all day, nothing else.
However if the figures are as expected, he made more because part of the fundrasier was then donated to UNICef, which to me was pretty stupid way of getting money for Freenode, after all, if Freenode can’t make it’s money without some sorta “we’ll also donate x% to UNICef” idea, then it must be loosing out….
