Finished Workstation

Well, I’m finally done my workstation I think.

Before:
  • Intel Pentium 3 550
  • Asus P3B-F Motherboard
  • 256MB of PC100
  • 30GB IBM Deskstar
  • Sapphire Radeon 8500 128MB
  • ES1371
  • Lite-on 48/40/12x CD Burner
After:
  • AMD Sempron 2600+
  • MSI K8T800 Neo-V Motherboard
  • 2GB of DDR400
  • 250GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 SATA
  • Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB
  • Audigy 2 ZS
  • Plextor PX-716A

In little under $1,000, I transformed my ancient decently performing computer, into a more modern decently performing computer. Actually, now I can play Homeworld 2 with the Point Defense System 7.0 mod and not run into slow downs with large battles, I can also compile larger programs with gcc in shorter time, and I can also render stuff in offline photorealistic 3D renderers faster.

So yeah, this will be my new workstation for the next two or three years, I think.
