Switched ISPs

Tuesday, February 8th, 2005 at 11:15 pm

For the first time in about ten years now, I switched ISPs, from Panax.Com to Downeast.Net. My email address has changed, so please update your records. The reason I switched was because Panax got bought out, and they were expecting me to pay $18.95 a month for 200 hours of access a month. Thats about 7.5 hours a day, which is amazingly low. Now I pay $20 for unlimited access from Downeast.Net.

  • Yeah, its insane. The one I switched to thankfully doesn’t do that.

There are still ISPs in North America that set prices based on time? Are you kidding me?

Considering that even broadband providers in Canuckistan are dropping prices to approx. $30/month for unlimited, basic access, US$18.95/month is just plain suicidal. Think the company that bought Panax is trying to squeeze out a few more dollars before closing up shop and putting in something different?

  • Yeah, its retarded. Panax before being bought out didn’t do that. They just went stupid when they got bought out. From what I’ve heard, most people around here are ditching Panax, so hopefully Panax will drop off the net now.
