Stargate SG-1 8×15: Citizen Joe

Saturday, February 19th, 2005

Spoilers abound!

You know when a series is good when they can make a flashback episode actually be fun and entertaining, especially when they bring out Dan Castellaneta of voice acting fame.

This episode mentions random stuff like Wormhole X-treme and the fact that there are people who aren’t fans of Stargate because it is too complex at times. Its one of those episodes that makes you feel that the people behind Stargate are really paying attention. The line “Well, the team dynamic’s not what it used to be…” was brilliant. The furlings injokes were great, as was Jack and Joe discussing Burns (from the Simpsons) as a Goa’uld.

So, why doesn’t Jack lock his door?

New Gamepad

Thursday, February 17th, 2005

Three days ago I got a Nyko Air Flo EX from NewEgg. Its a very nice gamepad. Its light and comfortable, and more importantly: it works. The sticks center well, and are not too tight or too loose. The buttons require just the right amount of pressure to trigger, and even the directional pad is sane (although, it can be a little diagonal happy at times).

Its a PlayStation-style dual analog controller, and its USB HID so it works perfectly in Linux. I was going to get a Logitech Dual Action controller but everyone says they have stick problems, so I chose this one instead.

Switched ISPs

Tuesday, February 8th, 2005

For the first time in about ten years now, I switched ISPs, from Panax.Com to Downeast.Net. My email address has changed, so please update your records. The reason I switched was because Panax got bought out, and they were expecting me to pay $18.95 a month for 200 hours of access a month. Thats about 7.5 hours a day, which is amazingly low. Now I pay $20 for unlimited access from Downeast.Net.

Well, Mozilla Firefox finally made it to 25 million downloads. My wish came true. Adot has the roadmap to Firefox 1.1 up on his blog.
